Hand woven carpets

Weaving is the most traditional technique to produce a carpet. To do so, you cross two threads (chaining and weft thread) rectangularly with each other. The specialty of a hand woven carpet is that you can use it on both sides. From the sheep-shearing right to the finished carpet, the dyeing and the yarning of the wool, followed by the weaving, knotting and tufting – a PAULIG carpet is handmade from beginning to end.

Paulig manages the complete production process fro beginning to end. This self-contained value-added chain provides the certainty of achieving the best quality at the highest environmental level.

But what is the difference between a handmade carpet compared to mainly machine-made ones? It is the human factor, the flair of harmony, liveliness and passion. You can see it, feel it and sense it. Handicraft indeed has soul!

Be friendly to the earth.

- Dalai Lama -

From the beginning, the PAULIG weaving mill has always produced its carpets in such a way, that people and environment have been protected. PAULIG pays strict attention to ensuring that all produced or ordered materials are made without the participation of children in the working process. Our local PAULIG representatives, who work on site, are able to check this every day. Another important aspect is the consistent choice of renewable primary products of high quality – wool, jute, cotton, hemp, sisal and silk – which is the best foundation for further processing. This starts with clear water and chemical-free soap. The carpet moth conservation needed is of course odorless and certified as representing no health hazard. Dyeing is also done on the highest ecological level at PAULIG. Heavymetal-free, strictly controlled quality products from Switzerland help to protect people, air and water. And only what is written on the PAULIG carpet label can be found in the carpet itself. It is indeed the case that the production of a PAULIG carpet is friendly to the earth, human beings and nature.
the dyeing at PAULIG is performed to the highest environmental standards
